Abstract

 The article is devoted to the study of driving licenses within the framework of technical and forensic examination of documents. The expert technique of the research of the protected polygraphic production, as well as the difficulties faced by the experts during the process of solving the set tasks, is considered. Particular attention is paid to the problem of studying driving licenses of foreign countries, the comparative samples of which are not at the disposal of the expert divisions of the Russian Federation. The author indicates the ways of this problem solution, consisting in establishing the compliance of the controversial driver’s license with the regulatory and technical description fixed in the regulatory legal documents. The list of requirements for driver’s licenses of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, ukraine, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the French Republic and Poland is given, the complex of elements protecting them against the forgery is specified. The similarity of the elements of protection of driving licenses of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus is established. It is noted that most of the driving licenses of foreign countries are equipped with microchips serving as an additional means of protecting this document from forgery. It is concluded that it is necessary to carry out their complex research involving the participation of the experts with special knowledge in the field of computer expertise in order to establish the compliance of information specified in the document and the microchip (barcode).
